Amy Barrows, Village Planner-Zoning Administrator, is a third-party vendor hired to provide Planning and Zoning services on behalf of the Village of Summit.
All properties in the Village of Summit are required to comply with the Village's Zoning Code. The Zoning Code provides a regulatory framework for land use and aids in acheiving a harmonious and compatible relationship between various uses consistent with the rights of property ownership, the general public welfare and the established goals for community development and character. In order to do this, the Village restricts lot coverage, use of land population density, size and location of structures.
Contact the Village Planner-Zoning Administrator if:
- You have questions about what you can do with your property
- You would like to divide your property, swap land with your neighbor, or combine lots
- You would like to build a new structure or add on to an existing structure that is located within 1,000 ft. of a lake, 300 ft. of a river, or to the 1% chance floodplain, whichever extends further
- Structures include, but are not limited to, residences, garages, sheds, outbuildings, boathouses, gazebos, pergolas, decks, patios, and pools.
If you are outside of this designated area, contact the Building Inspector directly 262-490-4141.
