ADDITION OF NEW ATHLETIC FIELDS AT GENESEE LAKE ROAD PARK
The Village of Summit and the Oconomowoc Area Baseball Club (OABC) have maintained a partnership for the past 15 years that has helped with the development the Village’s community park, Genesee Lake Road Park. OABC is an organization that provides competitive baseball and fast pitch softball in the Oconomowoc and surrounding areas. Their membership extends to youth within the Kettle Moraine School District, which includes Village of Summit families. They offer a junior developmental “D” league for boys and girls in five-year old kindergarten and first grade. In addition, there are competitive leagues for baseball for boys aged 7 through 14 and softball for girls aged 8 through 18.
The Village has worked with OABC over the past few years on the approval of two new baseball fields on the east side of the park, just south of the new parking lot that was constructed in 2025. These improvements will be fully funded by OABC and will ultimately be donated to the Village. OABC has completed design of the fields and related infrastructure, and construction will occur in phases over the next few years:
- Phase 1 (2026): Grading and grass planting; installation of drainage facilities; installation of gravel path connection to existing paved path
- Phase 2 (2027): Installation of backstops, outfield fencing, infields, and dugouts
- Phase 3 (2028 – 2029): Construction of canopies behind backstops; install asphalt over gravel path
Phase 1 construction is scheduled to begin the week of June 1, 2026. This work will not impact use of the park facilities or the parking lots and will be confined to the agricultural field area on the east side of the park. We kindly request that children and pets are kept away from the active construction zone for their safety. Adverse weather, unexpected site conditions, and other factors may alter the work schedule.
Village staff appreciate your patience and understanding as this work is completed! Any questions regarding the new athletic fields or construction activities may be directed to Kamron Nash, Public Works Director, at (262) 567-2757 or [email protected].
